Autism is a developmental disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behaviour.

AUTISM IN ADULTS
- While autism is typically diagnosed in childhood, it is possible for individuals to go undiagnosed until adulthood. In fact, it is estimated that around one in three adults with autism are not diagnosed until after the age of 18.
- Autism in adults can present differently than in children. While some individuals may have obvious symptoms of autism from a young age, others may have developed coping mechanisms that mask their symptoms or enable them to function relatively normally in certain settings.
- However, as adults face new challenges in work, relationships, and other areas of life, the symptoms of autism can become more apparent.

- Individuals with autism may struggle to understand social cues, make eye contact, initiate conversations, or express their emotions.

- They may also have difficulty processing sensory information, leading to overstimulation or sensory overload in certain environments.
